What’s Up, Fremont?
FBLA: On November 29th, FBLA had their Northern Region Competition at Weber State. We had 18 students compete, and the following students placed in the top 5 in their categories: Cheyenne Breeding - 5th Agribusiness Emilee Gibson - 3rd Agribusiness Hanna Clarke, Dawson Shaw, and Emily Miller - 1st Business Ethics Sierra Wallace, Emily Miller, and Harlie Bowman - 2nd Management Decision Making Selja Chaudhari - 1st Organizational Leadership Jamie Hudson - 1st Spreadsheet Applications Jamie Hudson - 4th Word Processing

CTE
Some of our students participated in an event at Kimberly Clark. Here are some pictures:
Welding: Add the bottom rail to the small playground at Plain City Elementary. It is impossible to simulate this type of an experience in the classroom/lab. From problem solving odd angles and figuring out the exact cuts to make a professional fit, to protecting 100's of 1000's of dollars of equipment from sparks. What an amazing opportunity for Fremont students to experience in preparing for careers.
Head scratching, discussing the sequence to be followed and how to make the pieces we add look good, added to the value of our field welding experience at the Plain City Elementary School.
Mr. Ellertsen said, “I enjoyed listening to the students coach each other and offer noncriticizing ideas of things they found to be successful. Each supporting the other. Each student had a chance to weld on the project. It was a great day for real world learning. Thanks.”
Track
Cross country just went to footlocker western regional race at Mt Sac University in Walnut California and two boys from the Fremont team qualified for nationals in San Diego California this week, their names are Zach Winter and Bronson Winter. Zach took 4th and Bronson took 7th. Only 40 athletes in the country qualify for this finals race so it is a huge accomplishment. – Coach Sauvageau
FFA
Fremont sent 24 students to the Utah Leadership Conference this year. They had a tremendous time and learned some valuable leadership skills. Fremont was well-represented!
HOSA/ Health Sciences
HOSA students were actors in a mock disaster for the CERT final, so we had six students in the class who took command and headed the triage and medical groups. Both sides of the task enjoyed themselves and showed their leadership abilities.
We educated parents, students, and teachers about the CODE RED app and website during parent teacher conferences this month. This system allows people to get text messages about emergency issues in your home area. We learned this is important to sign up for now that many community members no longer have home phones. Since we all use cell phones we need to register our cell phones to link with our home addresses so we can receive information when emergencies happen. We were able to give out information about this system to people and even help them to get registered if they wanted.
For our HOSA week activities we continue to provide 65 food pack a week to elementary schools in our cone and to our own students in need. Students hold food drives, pack, and deliver the food packs each week. We have been providing this service for 3 years now and it continues to grow. We also delivered first aid kits to all the teachers and staff for their emergency kits. We had raised money for this earlier in the year and received a matching funds grant from the Weber School District Foundation that made this possible.
We worked with Weber State Health Science Ambassadors to dissect sheep brains in our Intro to Health Science and Medical Anatomy and Physiology classes. We were able to do this intermingling the two courses since we were both on the same unit. This was a neat experience because it allowed the older students to mentor the younger students.
District Honor Band
The Weber District High School Honor Band had a wonderful concert this year. Fremont had the highest participation in the group this year! Mr. Densley also performed with other band teachers in the district in a faculty group. Congratulations on a job well done!
